Talking to kids about death

Pastor Plek addresses the question: Where is the line between truth and love in talking to a child and sometimes a young teenager with the topic of death? Where do we speak theological truth and showing compassion? Especially if the death is near like a parent and if you don't know if that parent was saved. How do you handle questions of "is mama looking down on me?", etc?
